INTRODUCTION

Section 29 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (Constitution) provides that everyone has the right to establish and maintain at their own expense a private educational institution as long as the independent institution: (a) does not discriminate by race; (b) is registered with the State; and (c) maintains standards that are not inferior to measures comparable to public education institutions. Previously the private SDPs could not be registered with the Department because of the Skills Development Act (SDA), 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998), as amended, in its current form does not provide for registration of SDPs but requires them to be accredited to operate legally in South Africa. To fulfil the provision of Section 29(3) of the Constitution, a Joint Communiqué 1 of 2016: The Registration and Accreditation for Private Education Providers Offering Qualifications and Part-Qualifications on the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework were promulgated in October 2016. This Joint Communiqué calls on all SDPs to lodge their applications for registration as private colleges with the Department of Higher Education and Training.

This list provides the public with information on the Skills Development Providers (SDPs):

  • That have lodged applications to be registered as private colleges with the Department of Higher Education and Training. The list shows the names, contact details and physical addresses of the SDPs in question; and
  • the Quality Council has accredited that for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) or its delegated agencies;

Important to note is the following:

  • These SDPs must still comply with the legislation by displaying their accreditations conspicuously and be able to produce them on demand to any person with interest; and
  • They must continue to offer education and training with valid accreditations until their the Registrar of Private Colleges has determined applications for registration.

DISCLIAMER

MyFiladelfia is not a private higher education institution and does not confer national qualifications. MINTS International Seminary (www.mints.edu) – a Florida Department of Education (www.fldoe.org/cie) registered seminary confers qualifications. Above mentioned courses meet the requirements established by many private, independent, and professional associations. Various regionally or nationally accredited Christian Universities, colleges and seminaries and accept transfer students from our institution. Transferability of credits earned at MyFiladelfia Institute via MINTS.edu and transferred to another school is at the discretion of the receiving institution’s RPL policy. MyFiladelfia Institute (and MINTS.edu) does not promise or find employment.  It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the ministry/institution they are applying at recognises the training.

We seek to provide a sound Scriptural standing from which our students may fulfil their divine purpose and call. MyFiladelfia does not prepare students for a future in Psychological counselling. Please contact the HPCSA in this regard. MyFiladelfia prepares persons for ministry possibilities. Although courses meet the requirements established by many private, independent, and professional associations, it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the ministry/institution where they are applying at recognises matters of accreditation and registration. MyFiladelfia has an articulation agreement in place with a South African DHET registered seminary. Please contact us for more details. The level 3B program presently leads to a MINTS BATS with an Transcription stating that this can be seen as the equivalent of an Honours degree in South Africa. MyFiladelfia does have provisional accreditation with Services SETA as a provider; accreditation number: 12667.
